dj karotte support !! when benno blome and jens bond were hanging out in bennos studio the other day they suddenly found themselves on the floor looking for their heads. they must have fallen off, while producing some new bond & blome-beats. having found their heads again, and put them back on, they continued, and finally came up with the lose their heads ep. after a couple of 12inches for sender records (tentacular, control your soul) during the past years, they now armed forces to release on senders new sublabel senzen. also thanks to the fantastic remixes from onno and acumen, this whole package is ready to rumble all over the dancefloors of the universe. you can leave your hat on, while you lose your head!.
SECOND WIND
12 Inch
15.06.11
open the curtain for the next trick from the highgrade disharmonic orchestra: for the last year the team have been busy refuting the notion that the dj is a one-man-band in the booth… tom clark, todd bodine, philip bader, dale and daniel dreier are an act that combines all their many and varied qualities into one pot, stirring vigorously and serving up a hearty dish that goes straight to the hips! they have proven many times with their live performance that the musical ingredients are just right – and have also put the evidence on the record with an original ep. now comes the follow up. the first track way too far, is a live recording which evokes an atmosphere of urban beats and pulsating flashes just behind the eyes and a dancing crowd who appear to sink deep into the dance floor. then theres a complete chance of scene for the second track the other night, that appears to hijack the veranda of a villa in the american south. crisp rhythms are backed by muffled thumping beats, a trumpet laments, a sexy sleep-talking emerges in gentle piano sounds. this is southern passion under the disco ball, cleverly approximated by the highgrade disharmonic orchestra
alex cortex >unshell< is the follow up to his acclaimed >i wont conform< (pom22) and the foretaste for his upcoming album which is going to be released on pomelo this coming fall.
>unshell< features 4 modern dancefloor tracks in best cortex style, characterized by tight rhythmic structures and a unique and irrestistible hypnotic power.
from deep stumbling house grooves with piano stabs and a male vocal admiring >your sexy moves< and a chicago jacker with a repetitive voice on the a side, to athmospheric dark techno with warped sound effects and breakbeat house layered with modulating 8-bit sounds on the flip, this record shows once more alex cortex skills to move off the beaten tracks in his very own style.

SEVEN HILL
12 Inch
14.06.11
the berlin-based partnership of long-time friends steve bug and clé has reared many a classy deep house tune in its time… their classic silicon ballet ep from 2007 led us heavily into their sound, combining melodic, blissful elements with the heavy vibes of the old-school acid days. now were due another full ep with seven hills. the title track is a refined, long-playing stormer - perfect for the coming months as the summer weather stirs up open-air fever! from humble beginnings a riotous, epic track grows fusing the poker flat boys patented analog production and natural ear for a melody. heartfelt strings draw the track to its finale as a teasing breakdown arrives around the 6 minute mark. this is a real slow-burner in the best sense of the phrase. the more urgent monkeyshoulder drives a deep blazing night-time vibe all the way home. smooth, filtering chords and spacey stabs swirl in a magical futuristic-yet-classic house jam. simply deadly in the right moment, this bright and dynamic production really does justice to the pairs talents

cupp cave was once heralded as belgians best kept secret.Ê well, guess what?Ê the secrets out.Ê from the us to japan, his glitchy beats have stood out as some of the most innovative and rich amongst today s electronic hip hop producers.Ê but he doesnt stop at just making dope beats, he crafts universes, ocean deep and mountains high.Ê hes also proven his ability to wear as the weather and terrains demand while roaming through tese soni landscapes. as kingfisherg hes spen his time excavating golden sine waves from deep, lost caves. as sineshine, hes fished out a treasure trove of long-forgotten disco nuggets.Ê as cupp cave, he serves up busted-gaming-console-and-dusted-broken-beat concentrate, filtered through a tub of radioactive waste to devastating effects. he also forms one half of surfkill along with dynooo. this ep sees françois / cupp cave return to his one true love: making sloppy chicagoesque beats. just like all of vleks output, it comes in a hand-screenprinted, hand made, numbered cover.

SOMEONE GAVE ME RELIGION (2LP)
2x12 Inch LP
10.06.11
from the very start, track one the first thirteen minutes of love opens the album with over ten minutes of ambient unlike anything you’ve heard in years, a long, elegiac composition somewhere between carl craig and the chill-out zone at a bygone rave. it’s a warning: take a deep breath before being swept away by eight tracks that span detroit and berlin, front 242 and carl craig, linking them via soaring trance, carefully-crafted minimal, the sound of the 90s, the sound of the new millennium. it’s hard to imagine the strike force and heart pangs it will inevitably inflict on any club in the know

12 Inch
06.06.11
a year after the initial digital release heres the long awaited nugget for all the vinyl lovers: d-pulse >velocity of love< with the new richer sound and the additional vinyl-only remixes. after a lot has been said about the original track and hot toddys mix (which was recently licensed for the ministry of sounds >late night sessions< compilation) these two new remixes resting on the side b are definitely worth to be mentioned. mario basanov (hailing from lithuania) really surprised us all with his musical thinking and a fresh point of view on the original track and also - by finishing such a quality mix in only 3 (!) days. the second mix that finishes off the ep was done by the new name from izhevsk - andrew starodumov aka eclectic sound (previously featured on our >obscured by the machines< compilation). his mix is a nice background for coastal chilling under the soft evening sunbeams. enjoy

the killer remixes from nick thayer, slynk & zamali will get you straight to the dance floore. nick did an amazing ghettofunk anthem out of it, with a rolling bass line and catching up the the funky gitare licks. slynk whiped the track up with a brass hook to bring back the late 60s funk feeling combined with his unique disco style. the last remix on this 12 inch is a great afro beat remix by zamali, to bring back the heat in the rhythm of the night.
OTP PARTY BREAKS #4
12 Inch
06.06.11
simoncino (aka nick anthony) from italian super edit label no more hits crosses the atlantic and finds a new home with on the prowls sub-label party breaks. what immediately stands out upon first listen is the production style, not being able to tell what is a sample and what has been replayed... much like tensnakes mega hit. the simoncino sound is firmly rooted in proto-house and 80s r&b. with ingredients like ancient drum machines, arpeggiated melodies, and cheap 80s pads, his concoction boils over with a certain cheekiness that makes listeners grin from ear to ear. all four tracks are subtle hits in their own right. excellent ep!

all the hype around xilents skills at 140bpm should in no way overshadow his skills at other tempos. the dnb juggernauts of >spectre< and >multishapes< have been tearing up the clubs in the hands of those lucky enough to have the dubs, with dj hype and crissy criss also both dropping >multishapes< on their kiss and 1xtra radio shows. the single most exciting thing about this ep is the future possibilities for xilent. a star is quite possibly born.
SCOTCH YOUR MIND

06.06.11
with the toughness of detroit house and the weirdness of chicago acid, scotch absolutely destroys all the dancefloors! richie hawtin newcomer allì borèm jumps headfirst into digital-age hedonism, with these two reduced, swinging cuts that have all the abandon and humour of a late night lock-in. this gentleman hails from rome, where he cut his teeth in recording studios across the city and as a dj has been responsible for plenty of discoteca mischief. expect these two playful, bleepy, bouncing tracks to give you much joy on the dancefloor.
CLOUDED VISIONS EP
12 Inch
06.06.11
ovum is excited to bring you the debut ep from nico lahs. many know him from his tracks on 8 bit and for his ovum debut he has delivered two incredible slices of deepness. the clouded visions ep harkens back to the classic early ovum sound but this is clearly a 2011 version of it. the a side >late night< is deep, but yet pumping for any dance floor. the sound is reminsicent of a mid 90s mood ii swing, but with an updated twist. this will move any floor and is shore to be heard all over this summer. >all i desire” has a classic ny feel, with the only thing missing possibly being a husky male vocal. this track can take you back to the shelter. two amazing deep productions from a talent who is clearly on the rise!

originally born in the south of england into a musically gifted family, mark reeve received the major order to be a dj and to play electronic dance music when he moved to the rhein-main area in 1998. mark is now known today as a non stop dj and producer , as an artist he has now had his most important releases on cult label defected with with düsseldorf-based tapesh, solo on traumschallplatten (sep 2011), for monique musique or neurotraxx - marks tracks are always a mixture between dancefloor moovers including groovy rhythms and big baselines. in his cocoon debut, reeve presents himself in all his stylistic bandwidth: >daybreak< combines a highly-functional tribal bass pumping station with such mighty dub chords that make the sun shine even in in the most remote corner of the club, while >morning on mars< gives priority to the hypnotic effect of percussion. mark reeve is definitely a name to remember in 2011!

once again, with spring, comes another addition to vakants fruitful and ever expanding family. we welcome the man formally known as cesare vs. disorder, for the first time releasing under his given name cesare marchese. in such a short period of time, cesare has amassed quite a discography and legion of fans around the world who follow him wherever he goes. yet another formally trained musician in the vakant camp, cesares music has progressed a great deal since his first release in 2006. every release drips with more and more depth and melody. his aether ep debut for vakant yet again proves why cesares accent is unstoppable. while just a 4 track ep, the aether ep covers much ground spanning afterhour afternoons to indie influenced incorrigibility, but always with that certain kink and freak that comes from a background of techno and global trotting nightlife revelry. to say deep and freaky would not be enough. to say anything would not be enough. these are tracks that must be experienced and not written about. from complete house electronics, to altered acoustic uplifts, to deep orbit accents, its all here courtesy of our new sicilian cesare

danilo schneider and the hypnotic sound of his production pour mes amis is brouqades opener for the summer and comes with full support of tim xavier, butane, timo maas ... the elegant housy sound of >lecole< signals a post-winter, head-totoe thaw, with hook-lines and snatches of vocals glinting thru smart beats like the fi rst rays of spring. the buck remix is likewise summer-bound, catapulting shimmering fi ll-ins and a straight bass that are right on target! >sabliere< steps up with a clear beat, wakes up a bass-line and pushes ahead with percussion at its fl anks while horns and vocals swell, and fill-ins try with all their might to tame the rampant groove! yet steady and undeterred, the song keeps its eyes on the mainline: to shiver the speakers and hold the dancefloor hostage

lory ds idiosyncratic take on techno is an all-analogue assault on the senses, a soundtrack to the end of the world punctured by shards of acid and twisted metal soundscapes. a john carpenter for the rave generation, so to speak. the enigmatic lory is something of a legend in his native city of rome, where the former dmc champion was responsible for introducing his compatriots the sounds of techno, acid and hardcore with 5.000 strong raves featuring ritchie hawtin, underground resistance, joey beltram and lfo. his label sounds never seen was the soundtrack to these raves – an industrial yet sometimes beautiful vision of techno where drexciya, frankie bones and spk jammed in the roman sewers.

kieren dickins aka dels is a new type of rapper (which is another way of saying that heãs more than just a rapper). applying the kind of attention to detail, micro-management and macro-vision which jay-z used to build a business empire, dels makes art. popular art mind you, but art all the same, an album of emotional peaks, musical innovation and surreal, brilliant lyrics, held together by such a unique, such a strong vision that it sounds almost silly to suggest itãs just a debut. already causing a stir with the tasters ¶shapeshift÷ and ¶trumpalump÷ (and the videos he masterminded for them), everything is now ready to show how these pieces fit into the bigger picture.
THE BARTELLOW THRILL EP
12 Inch
31.05.11
following the wild success of a tune called >miezekatze< the viennese duo ogris debris now teams up with munich based academic producer and guitar virtuoso bartellow for a split/vice-versa feature ep. bartellows opener track >the thrill is gone< calls its home the kenny dixon jr. house territory while its funk feelings remind us of soulmates bootsy collins and george clinton. then the so called >rethrill< performed by ogris debris drives the tune even further into a pumping house excursion going crazy on a euphoric vocal chorus cryin out loud: thats why we party all night long!
deep space orchestra have been carving out a very nice name for themselves over the past year, and alongside the likes of cottam and krl itʼ,,,s safe to say that they are helping to establish an exciting new movement of raw, detroit-inspired house. the diy approach is very much a part of their ethic, as is the underground feel and aesthetic which imbues their own use of weapons label as well as their recent releases on similarly minded vinyl-orientated labels such as foto and kirk degiorgioʼ,,,s legendary art. the release we have here is perhaps their most refined music yet, showing a development in their production level on two tracks which are brimming with a warmth and fatness whilst retaining that critical raw edge which only a handful of the most exacting producers seem capable of. lo pan builds around a fat, bouncing bass line and a brilliantly lilting groove created by straight 808 hats and shuffling shakers. the feel keeps shifting throughout the song, sometimes superswung, sometimes straight and driving, all the while simple detroit strings build and analogue arps are layered up building the tension in the arrangemen

this latest lovebirds ep on winding road records is another absolute masterpiece of chilled house soul and deep rave. a really excellent package and a must-have lovebirds release. on the a-side track, >want you in my soul<, lovebirds teams up with vocalist stee downes. stees acclaimed debut album >all in a day< was released on sonar kollektiv in 2008, and who has worked and performed alongside the likes of motor city drum ensemble, amp fiddler, dj spinna, and bugz in the attic. their collaboration for winding road is a driving vocal house bomb that will rock your world. the b-side kicks off with the dirty tech tune >give me a dubf*ck<, an injection of dark rave that has been causing serious explosions on dancefloors for a few months now. perfect chemical material for the harder floors. the b2 track is hot toddys remix of >want you in my soul< - a chrome-plated disco dimension to the track by crazy p man chris todd, which was licensed to tensnakes >in the house< compilation before it even saw the light of day. hot stuff indeed.
